Lecture

This last semester of school has been incredibly eye opening for me. I learned many academic lessons as well as life lessons. Surprisingly enough, I believe I had more life lessons learned in my business class than I did academic ones. Reason probably being because a business is mostly created from something you are passionate about in your life. Some of the most influential entrepreneurs of our time do not have a college degree and that's because a business can thrive if you are passionate about what you are trying to accomplish. This is called finding your calling. However, just because you're passionate, doesn't mean you are smart. An education is also imperative and should not be discredited. There is a reason why people make more money when they have a college degree, and it is because their education helped put them on the right path by creating their network of people, warning them of potential risks, and by giving them the knowledge that can ultimately help save them a lot of money in the long run. You'll see plenty of entrepreneurs on Shark Tank for two reasons. One, they don't have the money they need in order to create the mass of product. Two, they don't have the network to make it happen. These problems can be alleviated through a meaningful college education. Now back to finding your calling. Not only can it be a lifelong pursuit, but it can be a stressful one as well. Finding our talents and utilizing them can be extremely difficult to some and a cakewalk to others. Personally, I'm still searching for what my talents can be, and I search for these things by reading scriptures, praying, and trying new things. This being said, there are plenty of talents that I am sure that I take for granted and could be very happy utilizing in my life's work. Everyone is different, do not be discouraged in the hunt. Something that will help you stay on the path to success and happiness is what we call the "Stars & Stepping Stones" chart. Basically, it is a list of goals (stepping stones) that will help deliver you to your accomplishments (stars.) You should create different tiers of goals: everyday things, short term, and long term. By the time you get to the end of your journey, there are 3 questions that are suggested you ask yourself: "Who did I love? Who loved me? Was I successful?" Even if you are not to become an entrepreneur, this class will help you realize your goals, what you are passionate about, will help you increase your faith, help you in your marriage, and overall will make you a more mindful and successful person.
