Act

Act, the verb, means to take action and do something. This week I have had some struggles following through with things that I have told myself that I would do and that is not only humbling, but selfish. When you act and it is not in the way that the Savior would have you do, then not only is it selfish, but it also not what is best for you. What is best for you is to follow the commandments that we have been given and to follow through with the covenants that we have made with the Lord. You can be good in the gospel, a good friend, or good at what you do, but why not be great at all of these things? We undoubtedly have the potential to be. When we are not striving to fully utilizing what God has given us, we are basically mocking our gifts and when we make mistakes and don't utilize the atonement, we too are mocking that. There is an abundance of people, places, and things that God has put in our lives and it's up to us to find these and make the best out of it. God has put His trust in us and now it's time for us to put our trust in Him. If you are to be a great leader, then you must first strive to emulate the most perfect leader that we've had on this earth and His name is Jesus Christ. He was the first to lead perfectly by example, with a vision, and with love. He washed His disciple's feet. The Savior, came here to be of service, not to rule over the kings. Make the choice today to follow your Heavenly Parents. If you're lost and you don't know what to do, follow what it says in the book of Matthew. Chapter 7: 7-8: "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened." We can follow this advice by going to the temple, our House of worship, and we can go to get our education at our House of learning. In A Message to Garcia there's a quote that reads, "if the ability to execute is so valuable, why is it so rare?"My friends, I truly hope that we will learn to be more diligent in executing as our Father would have us do. Yes, it's hard sometimes, but it so much easier in the long run. Let us not be incompetent in the ways of the Lord. I'll end with D&C 19:23 - "Learn of me, and listen to my words; walk in the meekness of my Spirit, and you shall have peace in me."
